THERE’S A LOT OF GOOD IN THE WORLD, AND IT’S NOT LIMITED TO CHOCOLATE
Apr 16, 2020
One day, this COVID-19 crisis will be over. We will be able to hug our friends hello, share the experience of watching a movie on a real screen with a theatre full of people, find our grocery store shelves full of all of our favorite things. But for now, while we are all still sheltering in place and our lives have turned completely upside down, it’s important to remember that there is still an abundance of good -- no, not good -- WONDERFUL, beautiful, awe-inspiring things that can fill us up. Here’s a sampling.
More time outside. Have you noticed how many more people are out taking walks at all times of the day? And how many folks nod and smile, maybe call out a friendly greeting? And does the air wherever you are seem cleaner, the sun warmer?
Hilarity on TikTok. The increased time that families are spending together has spawned thousands of creative, comical little videos made by kids that feature their parents, who are portrayed almost always as lovable goofballs.
Happy pets. Our dog has us right by her side 24/7 and probably hopes a vaccination will take a loooooong time to make.
Creative connecting. Face masks with a smile drawn on. Car parades to celebrate birthdays. Zoom proms. Neighborhood shopping cooperatives. We are finding so many ways to elicit a grin and moments of connection.
The availability of gourmet chocolate. Of course chocolate has to be in this list somewhere! Buy some! And then, in the safety and comfort of your home, take off your mask, open your chocolate, and savor it.
